About the Dinwiddie County Fair

Dinwiddie County Office of Economic Development plans and implements the County Fair each year. Resources for vendors and purchasing tickets can be found on the Dinwiddie County Tourism Website.Our office serves as a vendor with educational programming, resources, competitions, and some activities. The 2024 Dinwiddie County Fair will be held October 4-6. The Fair is held at the Virginia Motorsports Park:

North Dinwiddie, VA 23803. 

New Admission Prices:
Adults (Aged 18 - 64): $10 each
Children (Aged 5 – 17): $5 each
Children under 5: Free
Seniors (Aged 65 and up): $7
Parking: Free

Download the booklet in the file below to see the various departments, sections, and classes. There are seemingly endless options to choose from. Register your exhibits by October 1 for consideration. All exhibits must be brought to the Extension tent at the Dinwiddie County Fair Grounds October 3 from 4-6:30PM or October 4 from 8AM to 10AM for judging. 

Please note that there are special requirements for entering livestock and small animals into the fair. See the details below in the 2024 Fair Booklet.

Dinwiddie Extension Sponsored Competitions & Events

Goat Show
  • Saturday, October 5 at 3PM

Open to Dinwiddie County Residents.

  • No bucks
  • Project books are required to be completed by the November Beaks, Beef, and Bacon Club meeting. Please complete the project book listed below and turn them in at the November meeting.

Youth who enter small animals into the Dinwiddie County Fair must participate in a showmanship contest to be eligible for awards and monetary prizes. Scores are based on showmanship, the youth's ability to share about the care and needs of the animal, and the animal's conformation and appearance. 

This event will take place on Saturday, October 5 at 11:30AM.

The Krazy K-9s Club will be holding their annual dog show at the Dinwiddie County Fair. This event is open to club members only and will be held Saturday, October 5 at 1PM.

Dinwiddie 4-H will be hosting a fun Pumpkin Decorating Contest at the 2024 Dinwiddie County Fair.

Age Categories:
Juniors - 9-13
Seniors - 14-18
Adults - 19+

CONTEST RULES

  1. Decorate however you like (carving, painting, clay, etc.)
  2. Pumpkin(s) must be real. No more than 3 pumpkins may be used. Pumpkins are not provided.
  3. Display should be no larger than 24x24
  4. Register by Septmber 30
  5. Pumpkin Displays must be dropped off at the VCE tent at the Fair Grounds on Thursday, October 3 from 4-6:30PM or Friday, October 4 between 8 and 10AM
  6. Judging will be done by fair goers through Saturday with ribbons distributed Sunday
  7. Entries must be free from inappropriate language, obscene images, and anything deemed by VCE Staff as inappropriate. VCE Staff have the right to refuse entries as they deem inappropriate.
  8. One entry per person

The Beaks, Beef, and Bacon Club will be hosting a Cow Exhibition to teach fairgoers and members about showing cattle. This event will take place on Sunday, October 6 at 2PM.

HORSE SKILLATHON CONTEST: Friday, October 4 from 6-8PM

CATTLE SKILLATHON CONTEST: Sunday, October 6 from 3-5PM

What is a Skillathon?
- an education event where people can demostrate their knowledge through hands-on activities. Stations may include matching breeds, identifying feed, judging animals, completing a test, and more.

How do I participate?
- must be ages 9+ to participate as of 09/3/2025
- no pre registration is required. Come by the booth during the allotted times to test your skills! This is an open time slot event so just come as you are able. It can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes for people to finish. Once you start, you cannot leave and return to finish the event.
